Coffee Quest #25: Puzzle Coffee
A barista in Melbourne (7 years in the industry) told me that covid killed most of the cafes in the CBD. That's why you're left with a lot of hole in the wall places that only serve takeaway coffee with nowhere to sit. Puzzle Coffee is super hard to miss if you're going down Swanston Street. We walked by it often and each time it was packed full with a line.
My partner got their cold brew coffee (in the glass bottle that you've seen me reuse a lot). I got their single origin Ethiopia espresso; it starts with an interesting fruity note that I found difficult to place. Like...apple? And yet, it wasn't as crisp. It was definitely sweeter though, with a very mild acidic note. However, there was another note that absolutely dominated the cup.
I let my friend have a taste.
He tasted hazelnut.
I tasted peanut.
My partner told me to taste deez nuts.
Anyway, she really liked the cold brew.
